The National Associations of Realtors (NAR) released a report earlier this year that rounded out the best of search engine optimization practices, (SEO). The report was immediately ripped to shreds by a disgruntled real estate agent and then it was posted on the web - gaining a top Google spot. This is something that is worth reading as its gained a lot of attention on the web.

There are a lot of truths in this report that are beneficial. The report doesn't go into very much technique and this is where it becomes confusing. Here are the 6 core elements that the NAR focused on in their report....

Here is the technical perspective. You need titles that reflect what people are actively searching for. You can get that information straight from Google's FREE Adword Keyword tool. You should use the exact phrases that people type in to the search engine and include them in your web copy. You will want to use the exact words so you can tap into the active searches. Some of these keyword phrases carry 57,000 searches a month etc.

You should get into the habit of using press releases that use keyword phrases in it. These tend to get picked up and distributed freely on the web. You want your press release to get picked up on major media sites and you can do that by submitting your press releases directly or using a service. Authority sites carry a large PR rank which can generate a strong link back to your site boosting it up in the search engines. I like to personally go after online media sources that carry a PR7 or a PR8.

WELCOME TO THE NEW AGE
Just when you thought it was safe to trust the web hacks. You know? The same louts that brought on the Dot Bomb movement? Trouble brews ahead.

But only if you know where to look.

This week brought on some troubling news. The common misconception that web visibility brings on INSTANT web traffic is just absurd. Yet this is what a lot of companies are being promised in this new round of online marketing. Its enough to make you want to jump out an open window.

SO WHY NOT GO BACK TO PPC?
Pay Per Click traffic doesn't quite cut it. As you know as soon as your money runs out your high level rankings will slip in the process. Unfortunately this is the first place we think of when we want to get more traffic. We expect to get what we want to get attention en masse.

But there are serious limitations to this. Even if you go for the cheap PPC programs off of MSN. True, on one hand you can get some random traffic for just pennies a click. But you're still not getting the right kind of online visitors coming to your site.

ROI?
Hearing the words ROI and PPC in the same sentence is common for traditional pay per click marketing firms. There are a lot of ways to blur the facts with statistics and budgets. I snub my nose on a lot of these programs because a lot of them are all fluff.

If you want hardcore results from your online marketing campaign you will have to dig deeper into OPT IN traffic and niche categories. And what a lot of companies are not aware of is that you can get attention without PPC.

Viral Marketing is a great way to penetrate your niche market base. Until recently getting a great viral marketing tool took a certain degree of programming. This has changed to a great extent over recent months.

* The Internet Marketing Center has great tools including Ebook Pro
* OPT IN forms (asking for friends email addresses)
* Selling ebooks on Ebay as lead generators
* Satellite Sites with Squeeze Pages

To market your business online means you have to be ONLINE. That means you have to actively participate in new web site services to see if they are worth it or not. It means you have to take your chances with Podnova, Blubrry, Digg, Squidoo and Orkut to see if they can best benefit you or not. It also means not to get stuck with one technology and become dependent on it. This is something that you must do for your business.

The Internet world is become more intricate and one must keep on top of the trends.

GETTING WHAT YOU WANT
Understanding who owns what is key. Yahoo and Google work together in limited amounts. They also share some commonalities - example, MyYahoo. Google also owns Feedburner as of last week as well as Blogger. So it makes sense to have the four of these services working together. There are many other alliances out there that you should be made aware of.

This lends itself to synchronous web speak. These services talk to eachother about your business and as a result you can get your pages indexed. If you take the time to understand what each individual service requires you can get your pages indexed in a matter of hours instead of days.

You know it wasn't that long ago when Google took its time when it came time to indexing a web page. Sometimes you had to wait months. Sometimes you had to wait as long as seven months. This has changed significanly in the recent weeks.

NOTE: If you understand what these services are all looking for you can actually get your pages indexed in as little as an hour. I kid you not. I have had blog entries pop up in Google in about 60 minutes after I wrote them.

So the next time you hear of a PPC firm that pumps strong ROI and requests a big budget -- remember what I said.

Getting the numbers for your TOTAL online marketing list is important. If you are like most people you have your list divided by MANY different services......

You will start to build special group list and soon realize that your influence will touch many different online lives. This can come from blog communities, RSS feeds, podcast audiences,
and social networks.

As you build your list you will soon find the need to divide them and to put them in categories. Not everyone in your list is going to be able to buy from you directly. You must understand this early on so you can begin to get precise.

So many companies are getting harrassment these days for doing nothing more than - doing GOOD business. These long standing irritants come in the form of spammers.

THE GOLDEN AGE OF RSS
We are truly in a wonderful time where subscription content is giving information to the right people. On the flipside it is also keeping out undesireables from entering and confusing your work space. It is for this reason that SPAMMERS are looking for ways to further infiltrate your environment. This latest wave comes in the form of online bots.

What are bots?

Bots, are scripted robot code that digs deep into your blogs, web pages and online forms and looks for places to post its unwanted marketing messages. These are usually sent from off shore "marketing cowards" who are looking for anyone with a pulse to buy their goods and services.

There are good bots, ( like when Google sends them over to index your pages) and there are bad bots, ( equiped with code writing ability to spam) that dig into your online forms.

TAKE NOTE ECOMMERCE MERCHANTS
If you are selling anything online you will want to pay close attention. There is a danger here if you don't know what to look for.

REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE: Always use text authorization when you use online forms. This means a live human.... not a bot.... will have to physically type in a mixture of letters and numbers in order for your forms to get entered. Once its entered in you can access payment.

The Latest Scam
These rip off companies are prowling the web looking for weak merchant accounts where they can enter in spam information. The other thing is that they are looking for unsecure online forms that they can order something for a dollar.... Keep in mind that these orders that come in are from stolen credit cards. They are testing them out to see if they can use them.

The bank is going to come looking for you since it is your merchant account. They will want to collect $20 bucks off you each time someone pulls this stunt. So many sure that you get into the control panels of your account and lock everyone out. This is the surest way to lock out any undesireable scam artists out there.

So remember....

1. Use on online merchant account with text verification
2. Use text verification on your blogs
3. Report ALL illegal activity

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - GET YOURSELF FIRED

There are two conflicting concepts of making money. One is working like a slave for someone else and struggling with a 60 - 80 hour work week to make a measly $1200 bucks.

The other is to be an entrepreneur and to create $7,500 bucks in instant revenue.

The later requires a little more tact, skill and panache but its totally worth it. Consider the alternative of working in a cube grovelling and waiting for permission to do just about anything. Then consider the entrepreneur way and taking a nap when you want or a two hour lunch in an expensive restaurant when you want.

The two concepts couldn't be any more different.

WORKING SUCKS
The best thing that can possibly happen to you in this up and down economy is to get fired. For one thing its going to stop you from succumbing to a slave like mentality. Its also going to broaden your horizons -- usually by force.

You're going to lose out on some of the things you become accostomed to in a job environment. You are going to miss out on the following:

* Water cooler banter
* Gossip
* Who slept with who
* Crap pay
* Bullshit

Now if you are INTO that sort of poor thinking behavior, (and a lot of people are) then you are not going to be mentally available to see real opportunity. As long as you are deadlocked into that paycheck and the limited possibilities that it brings you can miss it.

Its amazing what people will do to earn a $1000 dollars a week. Its incredible to me the amount of spiteful things that come out of peoples mouths, the backstabbing, the conieving and foul attitudes that people bring to the table. Its outrageous. You will find high levels of drug use as well as alcoholism at this level. I'm totally serious.

Just this week alone it was reported that 1 out of 12 people use drugs while working for someone else. These aren't just prescription drugs. These are hardcore illegal street drugs. When you think of the levels of depression and low frequency behavior that stems from working a total crap job its mind boggling.

So believe me when I tell you that getting fired is THE BEST THING that can happen to you.

If you are talking about getting at least $3,000 a week then you must be on your own. The numbers can only go up from there if you vision and are dedicated.

STOP THINKING MULTI LEVEL COMPANIES
Multi level companies are not the way to go if you want to make SERIOUS BUCKS. Rip off companies like Market America, Quickstar, and so many others are good at only one thing. This includes creating a monstrous affiliate program and then charging the people involved with monthly fees that have little to do with accurate customer aquisition.

There are people who do pull in $50,000 a month doing MLM type businesses but they are few. They are living off the fat of many drones under them scraping by and doing the "monthly minimum". In a traditional business sense this is not a standard protocol.

If you want a joint venture - you create one. If you want your own affiliate program then you go out and make one but you do not have to join someone elses and live off a 30% profit margin. If you are talking about getting rich there are plenty of other ways to go out and do it.

* AFFILIATE PROGRAMS WORK
* ONLINE JOINT VENTURES WORK
* DIGITAL WEB VIDEO BEATS BROADCASTING

Theres another secret to success.....

DITCH YOUR GIRLFRIEND
You need to cut loose all ties with poor thinking no matter where it comes from. It could come from a spouse, a co-worker, even a girlfriend. Dump them and create new relationships as soon as you can. Cut all ties from negative thinking people who profess poor ideologies and weak thinking.

You're only as powerful as the five closest people around you on a daily basis. Having said that its interesting how poverty and deep rooted poor level thinking is cultivated and preserved in some of our heartiest institutions.... churches, schools, universities and your community libraries.

WORK HARD, EARN A BUCK, SAVE FOR THE FUTURE

That my friends is a recipe for hardship.

It's okay to dream big, and its okay to be AMAZING. By making this personal transformation you may have to cut ties with those closest around you and get mentors who have their act together.

GETTING FIRED IS YOUR TICKET TO FREEDOM
Leaving your cube like prison is the best thing that can happen to you. Abandoning poor behavior like using an alarm clock to dictate your day or leaving it up to a stranger to spell out your total worth is required for this journey. Getting rid of the tradional mental and emotional prisons are necessary if you want to get bigger pay checks.

** Cultivating the perfect deal is the next step. They can come in many shapes and sizes. You can create a deal with one company that has 12 partners. This is a powerful way to create wealth.

** The same amount of work is required to get that 12 partnership deal. Also the amount of rejection is the same....so you have nothing to lose by trying. Your price point will dictate just how much money you are really capable of making.

Borders Offers New Media Centers

"For The Big Book Store Chain - Its The ZUNE"

Who ever thought that the big Ann Arbor book store chain, (Ann Arbor recently nominated the third smartest city in the entire country) Borders, would support the Zune mobile device. The recent Media Center that appears in some of the chains bigger stores is a literal love letter to the Zune technology.

Whether you like the IPOD or the Zune is a personal choice, (even though a recent visit by author Seth Godin predicted that the Zune to be an inferior choice). The main thing here is that this is the first time in the past 12 years something like this has been attempted. The first type of interactive display was for a CD-ROM section in the book store chain. This over anxious debut left the fans desiring something more after its quick demise. In less than two years the entire section was ripped out of the stores to be replaced with more books.

Such manufacturers as Voyager were left to the history books. These early titles included The Residents Bad Day at the Midway, Freakshow and Puppet Motel. The educational titles have all but disappeared.

This recent interest in interactive entertainment signals a new era for developers.

Sales Copy - Looking For New Blood In The Modern World

Its no mistake -- everything you have been reading in the last few weeks have been up to date. You are being told the truth. There is a lot of CRAP going on in the fine world of marketing. Everything from State backed Mortgage firms laying out threats to private citizen phone lines and other unsavory nastiness in the wings.

Its a wonder why more people don't complain. I know I have made my point known. In a way I have to admit I feel sorry for these busy bodies for unsavory practices in the past. Afterall, they are just trying to eat and survive just like the rest of us.

But how much is enough?

Its one thing to cold call your prospects but to berate them and threaten them with.... bullshit is just a horrendous way to conduct yourself as a business. Here is why I am up and jittery about this whole confounded mess. I am not a homeowner. I rent and am proud of it. I have my thoughts on other things than what my bank thinks of me -- be it a renter or a mortgaged out drone of the system. The mortgage marketing system in its current state is a kicked up disgrace.

But how long can this sort of bullying last? As more complaints are sure to flood the system the cold calling and -- pushy harrassment these companies pronounce will soon be spread out to its limit.

Here is a brief list of things that you cannot do in this modern world:

* Do not call
* Do not mail
* Do not knock -- this is getting bigger
* Do not spam, (email, spam sites etc.)

The growing question is how to do you reverse this model of being the annoying jerk to the well mannered welcome guest? You need to put more mechanisms in place where people are free to call upon you in times of advice.

Once again -- sales copy is your biggest asset and your best ally in times like these. And I am not talking about the 10 point headlines that say boring things and have a predictable qualifying statement. I need this type to be BIG and to say something OUTRAGEOUS.

If you want to jump out of the clutter you will need something that is going to shake up that certain prospect and get him or her to respond. The type of messages companies are using now are not nearly strong enough to get this type of reaction. This is why tactics like the mortgage company employs are very pedestrian and they are a great way to stay invisible.

You need to use sentences that carry action in them. As far as web sites go, pictures and prices aren't enough to cut it in the online world. You need some type of strong prose to carry your messages across. You need OUTGOING SALES COPY.

Your marketing is too important to leave in the hands of your secretary or some hired hack. In most cases you need to jump in and take the bull by the horns yourself even if your a novice. Having a lot of heart can go a long way.The problem with a lot of these services - like mortgages for example -- are very mundane in appearance.

There is nothing really new about them. Its like flogging a dead horse. Unless you are able to tap into a special interest group you are blowing hot air into the masses. There are a lot of competing companies in this arena that are all vying for business at different levels of service. You are going to need a lot more than an address and a phone number on your business communication material....

And this includes your web sites and brochures..... take a clue from this blog.... let them subscribe to you.... reverse the modelI could keep typing on and on but I think you get the gist of what I'm saying.

Just when you think its safe to jump back into the water. Google has changed its game once again and if you are not careful you could end up getting wiped off the face of the search engines.

We have no control over who links to us and why. But we do have a considerable amount of control over who we link to. Be careful of linking up to link farms which is the equivalent of spamming the search engines.

There was a time when reciprocal links were deemed to be a favorable practice. These days it is pretty much frowned upon. There is a real lack of sincerity and authenticity to the intent of the content. This can ultimately create some havoc with your rankings. Don't just hand out pointless links asking people to come and link to your site. This is especially true for those sites that are unrelated.
